Julian is a senior architect with extensive experience in large scale, multi-faceted projects. Originally from Wellington, Julian spent seven years working in the United Kingdom, where he led the architectural team, from inception to completion, on the £650 million satellite pier T2B at Heathrow Airport. The project was the largest and most complex project that Julian’s then employer – Grimshaw Architects – had ever undertaken. Throughout the project, Julian’s high-level communication skills, in addition to his strong commercial understanding of cost and value received considerable praise from design build contractor Balfour Beatty.

In 2012 Julian returned to New Zealand to lead the architectural team at then employer Warren + Mahoney on the development of the University of Otago’s new Christchurch School of Medicine. Julian was able to draw upon his airport experience in stakeholder management and briefing to instil a thorough and collaborative briefing process.

Julian's ‘people first’ approach to architecture and his belief in the power of collaboration is a natural fit with the Jasmax design philosophy. This has seen him excel within the practice, having demonstrated strong design, project and practice management skills, returning to Wellington in 2013, he became an associate principal at Jasmax in the same year.
