Victoria Street Development

    Commercial, Retail, In Progress

Jasmax is currently working on a new retail and hospitality development in the heart of Wellington city. Located on the well-known corner site of Manners and Victoria, this new-build development will replace the existing buildings scheduled for demolition.

The project scope includes retail space to the Victoria and Lombard frontages as well as hospitality opening out into an upgraded north-facing Denton Park. A unique commercial office premises is located on the first floor facing out to both Victoria and Lombard Streets.

The client, Cook Strait Properties Ltd, have negotiated an agreement with the Wellington City Council (WCC) in which neighboring Denton Park will be redeveloped.

Denton Park will be expanded in size and the WCC landscape team are working alongside Jasmax to upgrade both the park and to pedestrianise Lombard Street into a laneway.

The design team have taken careful consideration of the client’s aspirations to create an active frontage to engage pedestrians, while also reinforcing the prominence of the site with a strong built identity.

The concept for the building places user engagement with the street edge as its priority; in particular along Victoria Street and the revitalised Lombard Street. The design also ensures a strong visual connection with the street from within the building.

The completed project will provide a key linkage along the golden mile and will act as a junction between the Lambton Quay shopping quarter and the cultural heart of the city.
